OZONE LAYER MONITORING

Ozone layer measurement continued regularly at
Ozone Layer Monitoring Station, Quetta. No significant
change has been observed over Pakistan during
the quarter, under review. The ozone values
remained between 260 to 320 Dobson Unit

CURRENT WEATHER REPORT:
Thirteen westerly low pressure waves passed
across the country during the quarter April-June
2011.
Under the influence of these weather systems
rains/thundershowers, with a few moderate to
heavy falls and dust storms/gusty winds in plains,
have occurred in the country on a number of days
during April 2011, on a few days during May and
June 2011. Monsoon rains started four days earlier
i.e. from 27th June 2011 in the upper parts of the
country.

i. Validate the Regional Tsunami Service Providers(
RTSPs) dissemination process for
Tsunami Bulletin Notification Messages to
National Tsunami Warning Centers (NTWCs).
ii. Validate the reception of the notification messages
by NTWCs
iii. Validate the access by NTWC(s) to RTSP(s)
through password-protected web sites.
iv. Validate the reporting by NTWC(s) of national
warning status information back to RTSP(s),
via web-based warning status report form.
Tsunami Early Warning Centre Karachi received
the bulletins of RTSP(s) (India, Australia and Indonesia)
through GTS and e-mail. The web-sites of all
the three RTSPs were accessable by NSMC &
TEWC Karachi. A complete communication test log
was sent to Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) at the
end of the test.
ERTHQUAKES:
